Guinnea Pig - Payload Dropper

Twin engine payload delivery vehicle

The Gunnie Pig is the club's first twin-motor aircraft that was designed with the aim of closely replicating full-scale aviation at a much smaller scale.

Due to its excess thrust, the airframe was modified to incorporate a payload bay below the aircraft's center of gravity, with the maximum payload capacity calculated to be 2 kgs, with an all-up weight of 1.8 kgs. However, test flights revealed some weaknesses in the wing strength and the need to reinforce the wing attachment points was identified. This was achieved by adding an aluminum joiner that serves as a central wing box, providing strength to the wing and acting as a connection between the wing and fuselage. The Gunnie Pig also has impressive long-range cruising capabilities as the motors can be slowed down to a lower RPM while still maintaining flight due to its excess thrust.
